How to Play a Baccarat Game

More often than not, a game of baccarat is held in a specific area in casinos. The baccarat table is located inside an elegantly roped area, sometimes with guards overlooking the baccarat table. Fourteen players, usually in fancy suits and dresses, can play simultaneously in a game of baccarat. The minimum wager in a regular baccarat is quite high, but an average wager can be placed in another version of this exciting game, the mini-baccarat.

The primary objective of baccarat is to place a wager on the hand that the player thinks will be dealt with a card nearest to a value of nine. Three betting areas are available in every baccarat table. Two of these betting areas in baccarat are dealt with two cards each. Another card will be according to rules, which are automatically enforced in the game. These are the Banker and the Player. The third betting area in baccarat is called the "Stand-off". This is where the wager is placed if the player thinks that the cards that will be dealt to the Bank and Player will have the same value.

Most of the baccarat tables have three casino personnel running the table. Two of them are dealers and the other one is the caller of popularly known as the "croupier". Each dealer is assigned to seven players at each end of the table. They assist the players and either collect the bet or distribute the winnings. The croupier on the other hand, directs the game and declares the winning hand.

There are no busted hands in baccarat. Once the hand total exceeds nine, the tens digit will be dropped, and the remaining digit is the value of the hand. All the cards have the value of their face value, while the Kings, Queens, Jacks and tens have a value equivalent to zero. Thus, a card paired with any of the face cards and tens, even if it comes from any suit of the deck, will have the same value.

Baccarat begins with the betting. Once the bets have been placed, the cards will be dealt by a dealer coming form the casino, or in some casinos, the players themselves done in rotation. After the hands are already in order, the caller will announce the winning hand, while the dealers collect the bets of those who lost, and distribute the winnings of the winners.

The process goes on again for another round of baccarat. The game does not stop even if some players end their game and other players come in to play.
